Glossary
band-pass
Band-pass is a type of filter that passes a band of frequencies while rolling off the treble and the bass, creating a resonance peak at the filter's frequency point1. It appears as a filter mode on pedals such as the Mu-Tron III and the Keeley Neutrino Envelope Filter, alongside low-pass and high-pass options23. A wah pedal is described as a foot-controlled band-pass filter emulating the frequency filtering of the human voice4. In the Ibanez Auto Filter, the sound is produced by shifting the center frequency of a bandpass filter, changed automatically by the input signal5. The Electro-Harmonix Talking Pedal passes the guitar signal through two bandpass filters, giving the tone a male vocal quality and vowel-like sounds6.
