cabinet simulation
Cabinet simulation, often shortened to cab sim or cabsim, is a feature that shapes a signal to imitate the sound of a guitar or bass speaker cabinet12. It appears as a function in preamps, DI pedals, multi-effects units, and dedicated pedals such as cab sim and IR loader units345. It is often switchable or optional, for example on balanced XLR outputs or when running a signal direct to a PA system or mixer267. Cabinet simulation is used for practicing, performing, or recording, and is compatible with bass guitars, guitars, or any kind of instrument1.
