Glossary
dBV
Pedal specifications use it to state nominal input and output levels, maximum input and output levels, noise floors, gate thresholds, and signal to noise ratios123456. For example, instrument level inputs are commonly specified around -10 dBV12, while maximum output levels such as +8 dBV appear on pedals like the MXR M82B Bass Envelope Filter and Carbon Copy Mini Analog Delay45. Noise floor figures are also given in dBV, such as -98 dBV for the Dunlop JD4S Rotovibe7. The unit can be converted to other level units, as in +7.23 dBV equaling 9.45 dBu or 6.5 Vpp8.
