octave

An octave is a pitch interval of eight notes, and in effects pedals it refers to circuitry that generates tones one octave above or below the played note12. Octave effects can add a bass guitar-type element below normal playing or a high-pitched frequency an octave above it1. Polyphonic octave algorithms can track single notes and chords with fast tracking and distinct tone34. Octave up or octave down tones also appear combined with fuzz and distortion, as in octave fuzz designs567.
