reverb
Reverb is the sound of reflections in a space, created when soundwaves bounce off hard surfaces with repeats too close together to separate, unlike echo and delay12. The reflections are so close together that they create a continuous sound that gradually dies away1. Reverb pedals create spatiality by using analog or digital components to simulate the acoustics of real-world spaces3. It is usually placed at the end of the signal chain, the most commonly accepted and safest position for the effect45.
