three-band EQ

A three-band EQ is a set of tone controls, typically covering bass, mids, and treble, built into a pedal.1 It lets a player shape or refine the feel and character of the instrument's tone, as in overdrives and distortions where the EQ adds versatility without the drive effect taking over.23 Designs may be passive, shaping tone with minimal signal loss and controls that behave like classic tube amp tone stacks, or fully active.45 Some versions add features such as a sweepable midrange control.6
