Glossary
true stereo
True stereo refers to signal processing in which the left and right channels are handled independently, typically via separate stereo inputs and outputs12. Pedals described as true stereo include delays, reverbs, phasers, loopers, and fuzzes, and the design is used to create wide or multi-dimensional sound1345. Examples include the Strymon EC-1, which uses independent left and right processing for wide dimensional sound, and the Damage Control Time Line, which promises 96KHz true stereo signal processing13. True stereo inputs and outputs allow effects to be used in both live and studio applications2. Some pedals, such as the Strymon El Capistan V2, provide true stereo input via a rear panel switch6.
