The Adventure Audio Thaw is a fuzz pedal from Adventure Audio, a pedal builder based in upstate New York. The maker unveiled it as a two knob fuzz, and the Push knob serves as the fuzz's gain control1.
Controls and what they do
The Thaw keeps its control set to two knobs, with the Push knob serving as the fuzz's gain. Adventure Audio's description of the range it covers is broad: "From smooth, to gated, to octave-ish up. This thing can take your tone from almost there to right where you need it to be. Loud, full, and fuzzy."1
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Push | Sets the fuzz gain, from smooth through gated to octave-ish sounds1 |
In practice that means the same pedal can sit at a smoother, fuller fuzz at lower gain settings and open up into gated and octave-flavored textures as the Push knob is turned up, which puts it in territory shared by octave and pitch pedals as well as straight fuzz pedals1.
Where it sits in Adventure Audio's range
The Thaw joined a small lineup of fuzz-based pedals from the same builder1:
- Dream Reaper, a fuzz and modulation pedal1
- Demogorgon V2, a fuzz with tremolo and reverb, made with The Tone Mob1
- Thaw, the two-knob fuzz1
Compared with those multi-effect designs, the Thaw is the simple one of the family: two knobs, one function, no modulation or reverb on board1.
