The Ashdown Type-23 Pedal is a compact bass overdrive pedal. Ashdown describes it as delivering "rich warmth, dynamic response and natural overdrive in a compact, pedalboard-friendly" format, and says its character is "Inspired by the unmistakable character of classic British bass tones"1. For a bass player, that places it among the overdrive pedals designed to add grit and warmth while keeping the low end of a bass signal intact, sitting alongside other Ashdown drive pedals such as the Triple Shot and the Lomenzo Mega Drive.
The Type-23 is currently offered as a B-stock unit. Ashdown states that B-stock products "have been fully inspected and tested by our technical team to ensure it performs exactly as intended. It may" show minor cosmetic marks. Functionally the unit is sold as performing as intended, with the same 5 year warranty that covers all Ashdown products1.
Ashdown Engineering is a British bass amplification and effects maker, and the Type-23 sits in a pedal range that also includes the Geezer Butler Pedal of Doom, the Pro-DI and the FS-Bass Ometer. For more of the category, see the site's bass pedals page1.
