The CatastroFX Outbreak is a dual-voiced overdrive pedal that combines recreations of two Greer Amps circuits, the High Velocity Overdrive and the Southerly Harmonic Overdrive, onto a single circuitboard. Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson, who reviewed it in August 2025, called it "pretty much a blow-by-blow remake" of those two circuits, built with the same parts values across high quality through-hole components, with one resistor omitted1.
The two circuits and the Stage switch
The Outbreak's whole idea is two drives in one box. A Stage switch selects between them: up is the High Velocity voicing, down is Southerly Harmonics, which adds a hard-clipping gain stage2. Alongside the switch sit Level, Tone and Drive controls2. Karlsson described the pedal as "squeezing two of the best loved overdrives into a singular compact enclosure"1.
The graphics are UV-printed onto a Silver Sparkle enclosure1.
Price and availability
The pedal is not a mass-produced product. Karlsson reported that it is built in small batches and sold through the CatastroFX Store on Reverb.com, in a note from August 20251.
Stock is limited by the small-batch production model. At the time of the August 2025 review, three units were reported remaining1.
On price, the two Guitar Pedal X pieces differ slightly: the August 2025 review gives £80, and notes that when Karlsson bought his it was discounted to £601; the December 2025 year-end roundup lists it at £792.
What reviewers said
Karlsson's verdict in the December 2025 roundup was warm, with one reservation:
"An exceptional 2-in-1 Drive pedal which covers the best of Greer Amps in the one pedal."
He added that it brilliantly covers Lightspeed and Southland flavors, though he felt it was possibly a little too derivative for the awards overall2.
