The Ceriatone Centura Professional Overdrive is an overdrive pedal from Ceriatone Amplification, built around the circuit of the Klon, one of the most recognized and most debated effects in the pedal world1. It carries three controls, Gain, Treble and Output, and runs on 9V DC or a 9V battery2. GuitarPlayer's buying guide lists it among high-end boutique Klon copies, at a cost of over $200 as of June 20252.
What it does to your sound
Pedal of the Day's reviewer describes the Centura as warm and inviting as an overdrive, adding a wide range of breakup sounds to your amp1. The same review found a second role that many Klon users put the pedal to: "The Centura is amazing as a clean [boost], the way many use the Klon, to beef up your pickups a tad, or to boost a signal slowed by a long effects chain"1. If that clean-boost use is what you are after, the pedal sits alongside the types covered on the overdrive pedals and boost pedals pages.
On how close it comes to the pedal it copies, the reviewer was direct: "this beast sounds spot on to its original counterpart, made with high-quality parts"1.
The controls
The Centura keeps the three-knob layout GuitarPlayer lists for it, and Pedal of the Day describes what each does12:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Gain | Dials in the amount of grit and dirt you need in your signal1 |
| Treble | Adds in higher frequencies as it is increased1 |
| Output | Sets the overall volume the pedal disperses1 |
Where it came from
The Centura has been reviewed as a Klon-style pedal for years. Pedal of the Day first covered it in May 2018, when the reviewer noted that "The current wait list is about 6 months for one of these"3. The site returned to it in May 2022 with a feature that paired four different-colored Centuras with four different amplifier setups1. The Klon itself, as the 2022 review puts it, is an effect where "There might not be a more easily-recognizable, more debated-about effect on the planet"1, which is why Klon copies form a category of their own and why GuitarPlayer's buying guide compares the Centura against other copies at different prices2.
The roughly six-month wait list figure comes from Pedal of the Day's May 2018 review3. It reflects that date, not necessarily current availability.
Ceriatone also builds the Ceriatone Horse Breaker.

Questions
Is the Ceriatone Centura a Klon clone?
Yes. Pedal of the Day's review treats the Centura as a Klon-style overdrive, and the reviewer found that it sounds spot on to its original counterpart, made with high-quality parts. The Klon is one of the most recognized and debated effects around, which is why Klon-style pedals, often called klones, are their own category. The Centura is one of the higher-priced examples, listed by GuitarPlayer at over $200 as of June 2025.
How long is the wait for a Ceriatone Centura?
In its 2018 review, Pedal of the Day reported that the current wait list was about 6 months for one of these pedals. That figure dates from May 2018, so the wait today may differ. The Centura has also been demonstrated in four different colors, so availability can vary by version.
What colors does the Centura come in?
Pedal of the Day's 2022 review looked at four different-colored Centuras, pairing them with four different amplifier setups. The review does not name the individual colors, but it confirms the pedal is offered in four color options.
Can the Ceriatone Centura run on a battery?
Yes. GuitarPlayer's buying guide lists the Centura as running on 9V DC or a 9V battery, alongside its three controls. That makes it unusual among pedals that need higher voltage or center-negative-only power, since a battery option means it can be used without a power supply.
