The Damnation Audio MBD-1 MOSFET Bass Distortion is a bass distortion pedal from Damnation Audio, a maker known for bass-oriented drive pedals. It is no longer in production: the maker's own product page states it plainly, "Posted here for posterity. Long discontinued," and the pedal is listed as sold out1.
What it does
The MBD-1 is a distortion pedal built for bass, designed to add overdrive and distortion to a bass signal. Damnation Audio describes the MBD-1 and its sibling MBD2 as "our original Damnation Audio MBD-1 and MBD2 bass overdrive and distortion pedals," placing the MBD-1 at the start of the maker's line of bass drive pedals2.
Because the pedal is long discontinued, it is not part of the maker's current lineup. Players interested in what Damnation Audio offers now can look at later designs such as the MBD2 MOSFET Bass Distortion 2, the Curmudgeon 2, or the Retro Bass Distortion, or browse the site's bass pedals and distortion pedals pages more broadly1.
Where it came from
Damnation Audio built the MBD-1 as its MOSFET Bass Distortion, a pedal the maker now lists as sold out1.
The MBD-1 is long discontinued and sold out, according to the maker's own product page. Any unit a player finds secondhand is outside the maker's current production1.
