The Mark 1 Germanium Fuzz is a fuzz pedal made by Deitsch Instruments. As the name says, it is built around germanium, the transistor type behind the earliest fuzz designs, and it is an analog circuit rather than a digital effect1.

What it does

A fuzz pedal clips the guitar signal hard, producing a thick, sustaining distortion that is more aggressive than what an overdrive pedal or a typical distortion pedal delivers. Germanium-based fuzzes are a distinct branch of that family, and the Mark 1 is Deitsch Instruments' take on it1.

Power and specifications

The pedal runs on a 9V DC supply with center negative polarity and draws 15mA of current1.

At 15mA the Mark 1 is within reach of most pedalboard power supplies, but as with any 9V center-negative pedal, confirm the polarity of the output you plug it into before connecting it.
