The Emmergy FX Dial-Up Filter Fuzz is a two-in-one pedal from the UK maker Emmergy FX that combines a fuzz with a filter and an overdrive circuit in one enclosure. Delicious Audio's Paolo De Gregorio described it as "a playful fuzz + filter pedal that will lead the player as easily to sonic discovery or aural disintegration," producing "sounds from the fuzzy to the synthy to the gnarly and weird"1. It is a variant of the maker's Dial-Up Fuzz; De Gregorio wrote that it "takes the already crazy Dial-Up Fuzz to the next level of tone discovery and destruction"1.
What it does
The pedal is split into two independent sides, each with its own footswitch1:
- Left side: an overdrive circuit with Volume and Gain controls. At high Gain settings it can deliver fuzzy tones of its own, so it works as a conventional overdrive until pushed further1.
- Right side: a fuzz with a filter, which is where De Gregorio found the pedal most interesting. The filter side is what pushes the sound toward the synthy, gnarly and weird territory he described1.
Players looking at this pedal will find it sits between a straight fuzz and a filter pedal, combining both in one box alongside a usable overdrive1.
