The MOOMINDRONE LoFi Drone Delay Modulation Machine is a lofi texture unit from ezhi&aka, the maker Alexey. It combines drone and delay sound engines with what Pedal of the Day describes as "weird lfo and envelope modulation and FSR pads" for manual control1. The Drone side "generates a nice sounding drone buzzing along with your guitar, catching some notes and making them shimmer, sparkle or overdrive depending on playing and modulation settings"1.
What it does
The MOOMINDRONE sits in the experimental corner of the delay world. Rather than a conventional echo, it layers a generated drone under your playing, and the drone responds to your notes and to the modulation settings, so held notes can shimmer, sparkle or push into overdrive. The FSR pads (force-sensing resistor pads) give manual control over the texture while you play1.
The new version
This version revisits the original 2019 MOOMINDRONE T Drone Delay, the first unit from Alexey that Pedal of the Day ever demoed. The new version adds dedicated controls for Drone amount and Drone Pitch/Delay, "allowing to dial up different voicings"1.
Controls and modulation
The panel is deliberately unconventional. As the reviewer put it, "just take a look at the completely-unlabeled controls, and you know that you're in for some exciting, curious musical experimentation"1.
Both LFOs have two operational modes. In normal mode (blue light), speed is controlled via a dedicated pot and/or via tap tempo footswitch1.
What reviewers said
Pedal of the Day reviewed the new version on 2 October 2026 and came away enthusiastic1:
"If you're an experimenter, and love making not-of-this-world musical sounds, then this pedal is a MUST HAVE."
