The Foxpedal Magnifica is a compact reverb pedal from Foxpedal, built with hand-wired construction1.
A spring-like reverb with a hint always on
Foxpedal describes the Magnifica as a spring-like reverb, so the target is the character of a spring tank rather than an actual spring inside the box2. Pedal of the Day's reviewer, Mike B, heard the pedal's range as "Going from a slight, subtle, tone-coloring sound to a fully washed and saturated reverb"1.
One quirk worth knowing before you buy into a board: the reviewer found that "there's always some tiny bit of effect, so when you turn it on, even all the way down, there's still a hint of reverb"1. In practice that means the Magnifica behaves less like a clean pass-through when engaged and more like a subtle tone color that is always present, which some players will like and others will not.
"an easy-to-use, fully-bodied reverb pedal, and although the controls may seem simple (which they are), there are many ambient sounds to be coaxed from its hand-wired innards"
If you want a dedicated spring reverb from another maker, the Vahlbruch Pipeline v2 is a spring reverb pedal in the same territory, and our Reverb Pedals page covers the wider field.
The controls: Feedback and Tone
The Magnifica keeps things to two knobs, and each does a specific job1.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Feedback | Feeds the signal back into itself; turned all the way up together with the Reverb knob, it produces oscillation1 |
| Tone | Shapes the character of the reverb, "from a warmer, amp-like verb to a shiny, shimmering crisp reverb sound"1 |
The Feedback control is the one that gives the pedal its ambient reach. Because it pushes the reverb into self-oscillation at its maximum, it can produce washed-out, sustained textures from a two-knob pedal1.
Power, bypass and size
The Magnifica runs on a standard 9 volt DC supply with a negative center pin1.
There is no internal battery option, so the pedal will not run without an external 9V DC, negative center supply1.
The footswitch is a 3PDT true bypass switch, so the reverb circuit drops out of the signal path entirely when the pedal is off1. The enclosure is hand-wired construction, and the pedal measures 2.6 inches wide by 4.6 inches high by 1.5 inches deep1.

Questions
Does the Foxpedal Magnifica V2 take a battery?
No. The Magnifica has no internal battery option, so it needs an external power supply. It runs on a standard 9 volt DC supply with a negative center pin, the same format most pedalboard power supplies provide.
Is the Foxpedal Magnifica V2 true bypass?
Yes. The V2 uses a 3PDT true bypass footswitch, so when the pedal is off, your guitar's signal passes through without the reverb circuit in the way.
What power supply does the Foxpedal Magnifica V2 need?
A standard 9 volt DC, negative center supply. Because there is no battery option, you will need a pedalboard power supply or a dedicated adapter to run it.
Can the Magnifica self-oscillate?
Yes. According to Pedal of the Day's review, the Feedback knob feeds the signal back into itself, and turning it all the way up together with the Reverb knob produces oscillation.
Is the Magnifica a real spring reverb?
No. Foxpedal describes the Magnifica as a spring-like reverb, meaning it aims at that character electronically rather than using an actual spring tank. Pedal of the Day called it a basic reverb pedal that just focuses on great sound.
How big is the Foxpedal Magnifica?
The Magnifica measures 2.6 inches wide, 4.6 inches high and 1.5 inches deep, according to Pedal of the Day's review, which makes it a compact pedal that fits easily on a crowded board.
