The Festival Overdrive is an overdrive pedal made by Foxrox, the company run by designer Dave Fox. Foxrox announced it as its newest pedal in November 2014, when Dave Fox posted photos of the pedal's circuitry and PCB layout on his Facebook page1.
What it does
The Festival Overdrive is an overdrive, the pedal type that pushes an amp or adds grit and sustain while keeping the character of the player's guitar and picking largely intact. It sits in the same family as other overdrive pedals, as distinct from distortion pedals or fuzz pedals, which reshape the signal more aggressively.
Background
Foxrox introduced the pedal publicly in stages. On 6 November 2014, Dave Fox wrote on the Foxrox Electronics site: "Recently, I posted some photos of our newest pedal, the Festival Overdrive, on my Facebook page." The post showed the pedal's circuitry and PCB layout, giving players a look under the hood before the pedal reached full release1.
