Fulltone ABY-Soft Touch v2

The Fulltone ABY-Soft Touch v2 is an ABY switcher pedal made by Fulltone. An ABY switcher is a routing tool rather than a tone-shaping effect: it sits on the board to move a signal between two paths, most often one guitar into two amplifiers, or two guitars into one amplifier, without the player having to swap cables mid-set. What it does

ABY switchers get their name from the labels players give the two outputs: A, B, or both at once. Stepping on the pedal selects output A, output B, or the two together, which is how a player runs a clean amp and a dirty amp side by side and moves between them with one stomp. The "soft touch" in the name refers to the footswitch action Fulltone uses for the v2.¹

Because a switcher only routes the signal and does not process it, it sits alongside the pedals that do: an overdrive pedal or a tremolo pedal shapes the sound, and the ABY decides which amplifier or chain receives it.
