The Fuzz Imp Adventure SuperFuzz is a fuzz pedal that puts three circuits in one enclosure: an upper octave fuzz, a second scooped fuzz, and a clean preamp, all blended and shaped by a two-band active EQ. Guitar Pedal X's Stefan Karlsson describes the result as "a richly harmonic Super-Fuzz style output," and says the combination of three gain stages "gives you a very full sounding output"12.
Inside, the pedal uses a hybrid THT / SMT circuit, with through-hole and surface-mount parts arranged on the board, a construction Karlsson noted across Fuzz Imp's compact pedal range2.
Three circuits in one: octave fuzz, scooped fuzz and clean preamp
The Adventure SuperFuzz is not a single fuzz stage with tone shaping. It mixes up three circuits3: an upper octave fuzz in the Univox / Shin-ei Super-Fuzz tradition, a second scooped fuzz running underneath it, and a clean preamp that can be blended against the fuzzed signal. A two-band active EQ sits over the top, letting you push or cut highs and lows actively rather than just rolling them off1.
For a player, that layout means the pedal works several ways: the octave fuzz section on its own, the scooped fuzz section on its own, or a blend of fuzzed and clean signal so the low end and attack of the dry guitar sit underneath the octave effect.
Controls
| Knob | Section | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Octave | Octave Fuzz | Sets the intensity of the octave-up fuzz1 |
| Fuzz | Scooped Fuzz | Sets the gain of the scooped fuzz1 |
| Blend | Clean Preamp | Mixes the preamp signal against the fuzz1 |
| Preamp Level | Clean Preamp | Sets the level of the clean preamp1 |
| Active High | EQ | Active treble control1 |
| Active Low | EQ | Active bass control1 |
Karlsson shared his preferred settings as a starting point: Octave at 10 o'clock, Fuzz at 10:30, Blend at 1 o'clock, Clean at noon, High at 3:30 and Low around 3 o'clock1.
Where the circuit comes from
The pedal belongs to the Univox / Shin-ei Super-Fuzz family of sounds, a genre Karlsson says he is "a huge fan of... and all its derivations"1. But it is not a copy. In his review he writes:
"This is seemingly its own circuit with its own unique construction - which delivers that same fantastic utput - a touch richer even via a really smart blending of 3 core gain circuits"1
That distinguishes it from pedals like the BOSS FZ-2 Hyper Fuzz, which Aion FX documents as "a near-exact replica of the Univox Superfuzz"4. Where the FZ-2 follows the original circuit closely, the Adventure SuperFuzz takes its own route to the same style of octave-up fuzz.
How it compares with the Fuzz Imp Creature
Fuzz Imp's sibling pedal, the Creature, combines Percolator and Factory Fuzz circuits in series rather than stacking three circuits with a blendable preamp. In his review of the two, Karlsson found the Adventure slightly easier to get to grips with than the Creature3. Both sell for exactly the same price, $149.99 on the Fuzz Imp Webstore3.
Finish options
The pedal is available in a stealthy black finish, with a couple of alternative, slightly more colorful colorways also offered, including a hammered copper option1.
The Adventure SuperFuzz draws 50mA at 9V DC center negative1, so it needs a power supply or isolated output rather than running on a battery.

Questions
Is the Fuzz Imp Adventure SuperFuzz based on the Univox Super-Fuzz?
It sits in the Univox / Shin-ei Super-Fuzz genre and delivers a Super-Fuzz style octave-up fuzz output, but it is not a clone. Reviewers describe it as its own circuit with its own unique construction, one that lands in the same territory as the classic rather than copying it.
What power supply does the Fuzz Imp Adventure SuperFuzz need?
It runs on 9V DC with a center negative plug, drawing 50mA. That is standard pedalboard supply territory, so a typical 9V power brick output will run it.
How many knobs does the Fuzz Imp Adventure SuperFuzz have?
Six: Octave (intensity) for the octave fuzz section, Fuzz (gain) for the scooped fuzz section, Blend (Preamp/Fuzz Mix) and Preamp Level for the clean preamp, and Active High and Active Low for the two-band active EQ.
What colors does the Fuzz Imp Adventure SuperFuzz come in?
It comes in a stealthy black finish, with a couple of alternative, slightly more colorful colorways also offered, including a hammered copper option.
How much does the Fuzz Imp Adventure SuperFuzz cost?
$149.99 on the Fuzz Imp Webstore, as reported in August 2025. The Fuzz Imp Creature carries exactly the same price.
