The Gokko Rocket is a compact distortion pedal from GOKKO, listed by the maker as the Effect Pedal Rocket Distortion GK-45. GOKKO describes it as offering "decades of distortion tones in one pedal", with a wide range of distortion gain and a highly tweakable EQ, and says the Rocket "gives you the full boatload of dirt, from early-'70s low gain overdrive to modern scooped metal and every bit of crunch in between."1
Controls
The Rocket keeps things simple with three knobs1:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| VOL | Controls overall effect volume |
| GAIN | Controls amount of distortion |
| BASS | Cuts or boosts low frequencies |
The BASS control is the EQ element of the design: it lets you cut or boost low frequencies around the distortion, which is where the "highly tweakable EQ" GOKKO describes comes from in practice. GAIN sets how much dirt the pedal produces, and VOL sets the overall level of the effect.1
Size and weight
The Rocket is a small-format pedal. GOKKO lists its size as 11.2 x 3.4 x 6.4 cm and its weight as 0.23 kg, figures that matter if you are fitting it onto a crowded board or counting payload.1
Where it sits
As a distortion pedal, the Rocket belongs to the wider family of dirt boxes covered on the site's Distortion Pedals page. Players looking for related overdrive or fuzz styles can compare it with Overdrive Pedals and Fuzz Pedals, and GOKKO's other current designs include the GOKKO SonicBone and GOKKO SonicFire.
