The GUP Tech Queen of Crow - Douche Edition is a dual overdrive pedal built on the AnalogMan version of the Marshall Blues Breaker circuit, the King of Tone. GUP Tech describes it plainly: "This is our dual Overdrive based on the AnalogMan version of the Blues Breaker, the King of Tone."1 The Douche Edition is the pink-finish version of the Queen of Crow Dual Overdrive, one of several finishes the pedal has appeared in, alongside the purple standard version, the limited Spooky 2026 edition and the sold-out Gold Rush Edition.1234

Like the King of Tone it honors, the pedal puts two independent overdrive channels in one box, so you can stack them, run one as a boost into the other, or set each for a different gain character. It is made by GUP Tech in Saguenay, Québec, Canada, and lists for £115.00 GBP.1

What it does and how it is controlled

Each of the two channels is an independent overdrive circuit, and each has an internal switch for hard or soft clipping. That is the same choice the King of Tone offers: hard clipping pushes toward a firmer, more compressed drive, while soft clipping keeps the clipping inside the op amp feedback loop for a more open, amp-like overdrive.2

Inside the pedal you also find:

  • A dip switch for the high gain mode on each side2
  • Internal trimpots for the presence control of each channel12

GUP Tech notes a practical point about the pedal's character: "This pedal ain't go a lot of volume, unity in boost mode is at full volume half gain, goof around from there." In other words, the output range is modest, and a player using one side as a boost should expect unity volume around full volume and half gain rather than a large clean boost on tap.2

If your Queen of Crow serial is after #4050, you have access to the internal high gain dip switch, one for each side of the pedal. Earlier units do not have it.2

Power: 9V only, with an 18V charge pump inside

The Douche Edition runs on 9V DC, center negative, only. GUP Tech's warning is direct: "Using more than 9V will blow some capacitors."1

The reason the pedal does not want 18V from your supply is that it makes its own. The Douche Edition has an onboard 18VDC charge pump, which GUP Tech describes as meaning "no need to wire it to a 18VDC outlet anymore." The higher internal voltage gives the op amp more headroom, but the pedal still draws only 21mA from a standard 9V supply.1

Never plug the Queen of Crow into an 18V outlet or a higher-voltage tap. Feed it 9V DC center negative only; more than 9V will blow some capacitors.1

Versions and editions

The Queen of Crow has appeared in several finishes, all with the same dual King of Tone-based circuit214:

VersionStatus
Douche EditionIn production1
Spooky 2026In production3
Gold Rush EditionDiscontinued4

The Gold Rush Edition is described by GUP Tech as "exactly the same circuit as the original GUPtech QoC, in a unique Gold box," which holds for the other editions too: the differences between versions are cosmetic, not circuit changes.4

Where it came from

The Queen of Crow is built by GUP Tech in Saguenay, Québec, Canada, where the maker says all of its pedals are produced. It has been offered across editions, including this Douche Edition, a Spooky 2026 edition, and a Gold Rush Edition.1

Questions

Can I run the GUP Tech Queen of Crow Douche Edition at more than 9V?

No. GUP Tech specifies 9V DC center negative only, and warns that using more than 9V will blow some capacitors. The pedal already has an onboard 18V charge pump that generates the higher internal voltage it needs, so there is no reason to feed it 18V from your power supply.

Does the Queen of Crow need an 18V power supply?

No. The Douche Edition has an onboard 18VDC charge pump, so the higher internal operating voltage is generated inside the pedal. You feed it a standard 9V DC center negative supply only; GUP Tech states that more than 9V will blow some capacitors.

What diodes and chip are in the Queen of Crow Douche Edition?

GUP Tech wires the Douche Edition with 1N914 and BA283 diodes and a JRC4580 chip. Each channel also has an internal switch for hard or soft clipping, plus internal trimpots for the presence control of each channel.

What enclosure size does the Queen of Crow use?

The Queen of Crow, including the Douche Edition, is built in a 1590BB enclosure, the larger double-wide box common to dual pedals. The Douche Edition is shown in a pink finish on GUP Tech's product page.
