The GUPtech FOAZZ Gold Rush Edition is a fuzz pedal built by GUPtech in Saguenay, Québec, Canada. It is a one-off version of the maker's Foazz: GUPtech describes it as "Exactly the same circuit as the original GUPtech Foazz, in a unique Gold box," and states plainly that "Only one will ever exist."1
What it does
Because the Gold Rush Edition shares its circuit with the GUP Tech FOAZZ, its sound is the same as that pedal's. On the Foazz's second mode, the maker describes a "modern heavy distorted fuzz (Mode 2)," and characterizes the pedal itself as an "Amazing violent fuzz pedal. 10/10."2 In other words, this is a heavy, aggressive fuzz voice rather than a vintage-style face of gain, and the gold enclosure changes nothing about how it sounds.
Availability
The Gold Rush Edition is a limited piece by design: GUPtech says only one will ever exist, and the pedal is listed as sold out.1 The maker's list price was £109.00 GBP.1 Players after the same circuit in a pedal that can actually be found would look to the original GUP Tech FOAZZ, or to GUPtech's other fuzz designs such as the GUPtech Cornichon Fuzz, the GUPtech Octofuzzy or the GUPtech Bass Babe.
This is a one-of-a-kind pedal. GUPtech states that only one Gold Rush Edition will ever exist and the listing shows it as sold out.1
