The Heretic Fuzz is a fuzz pedal from Hiero Effects. It is an update of the maker's original pedal with a smaller footprint, so it takes up less space on a pedalboard1.
What it does
As a fuzz, the Heretic Fuzz sits in the same family as distortion pedals and overdrive pedals, but with the heavier, more saturated clipping players associate with classic fuzz designs. Delicious Audio's report on the pedal, written by Christopher Scapelliti, described its central claim this way:
"it claims to give you access to the classic distorted tones produced by three legendary vintage stompboxes like the bigmuff, the fuzzface and the tonebender, in one box."1
That places the Heretic Fuzz in a line of pedals that aim to cover the Big Muff, the Fuzz Face and the Tonebender, three vintage fuzz circuits, in a single box1.
