The HIDE&SEEK is a dual overdrive pedal from the Japanese builder HTJ-WORKS, described by the maker as an "OVERDRIVE BOOSTER". It packs two pedal functions into one enclosure: the left side carries the Bright Horse circuit, which the maker describes as a KLON motif, and the right side carries the TSH-10, built on a Japanese TS10 motif. Each side is its own overdrive, so the pedal can serve as two separate drives on a board or as a stacked pair in one footprint.1

Both sides are analog circuits, and each of the two pedals has its own buffer on/off switch, so you can run either side buffered or unbuffered independently.1 For players weighing overdrives against heavier dirt, the type pages for Overdrive Pedals, Distortion Pedals and Fuzz Pedals cover how the categories differ.

Because each side has its own buffer switch, the HIDE&SEEK can be set so one circuit drives the other with buffering in between, or so both run unbuffered. The maker presents it as "a very convenient item with two pedal functions."1

The Bright Horse circuit also appears as a standalone HTJ-WORKS pedal, the Bright Horse Boost Overdrive, which Pedal of the Day reviewed in November 2022 as a modern Klon take with Gain, Treble and Output controls and switchable buffered or true bypass.

Power

The HIDE&SEEK runs on 9V DC, center negative, the standard pedal supply arrangement.1
