The Ibanez CSMINI is a chorus pedal in a compact Mini stompbox format, unveiled at NAMM 2016 alongside two siblings: the ADMINI Analog Delay and the SMINI Super Metal. Ibanez presented the three as faithful recreations of its bigger pedals, with the CSMINI covering the chorus role in the set1. Chorus, as an effect type, doubles the guitar's signal with a slightly detuned, modulated copy to add width and movement; for more on how that works, see Chorus Pedals.
What it does
The CSMINI is a chorus in the same sense as its larger Ibanez predecessors: Delicious Audio's NAMM 2016 report lists it simply as "Chorus (CSMINI)" in the new Mini lineup1. The pedal is described as a faithful recreation of its bigger brother, the larger Ibanez chorus, shrunk into the Mini housing1.
True bypass and the Mini format
One feature Ibanez gave all three Mini pedals is true bypass switching, which takes the pedal's circuit completely out of the signal path when it is off, for a cleaner signal when not in use1. That matters on a pedalboard where several pedals sit between the guitar and the amp.
The CSMINI was announced as part of a three-pedal set at NAMM 2016: the ADMINI Analog Delay, the CSMINI Chorus and the SMINI Super Metal1.
Where it sits in Ibanez's chorus range
Ibanez has a long chorus history, and the CSMINI is the compact entry among it. Related pedals on this site include the Ibanez CS9 Stereo Chorus, the Ibanez CS-505 Chorus, the Ibanez SC10 Super Stereo Chorus and the Ibanez Analog Chorus Mini.
