The IdiotBox Effects Nihilizer is a distortion and noise synth pedal built as a collaboration between IdiotBox and the rapper Ghostemane, made around 2020 to 2021. It packs two effects into one enclosure: a distortion on the left and a noise synth on the right, each with its own controls. Only 60 units were ever made, and the pedal is currently sold out on the maker's product page, where it lists at $666.00 USD.1
What it does
The pedal is split into two sides. The left side, labeled NIHILIZATION, is what the maker calls "a killer unique distortion" with volume and tone controls, plus an internal distortion control that ships set to full blast. The right side, labeled N/O/I/S/E, is described as "a dark wild noise synth" with two oscillators, modulation and volume controls.1
The two sides can work together: the noise synth side can be run through the distortion side, so the synth tones can be pushed through the NIHILIZATION circuit.1
Context in the IdiotBox range
The Nihilizer sits among IdiotBox's heavier and more experimental pedals. Other distortion-side designs from the maker include the Idiotbox Blowerbox, the IdiotBox Heavy Weapon dual distortion and the Idiotbox Redrum V2. For players drawn to the noise side of the Nihilizer, the maker's range also includes pedals like the IdiotBox No Moon. See the full Distortion Pedals and Synth Pedals categories for how these types compare.
Only 60 Nihilizers were ever made, and the pedal is listed as sold out on the maker's site.1
