The JET Pedals Unity6 is a MIDI controller and loop switcher, and the U6 Trio is its three-switch expander: a small footswitch unit that adds three programmable switches to the Unity6. Each switch carries two press actions, short press and long press, giving six actions in total, and each action can be programmed to control any feature within the Unity61. JET Pedals describes the switches as soft-click smart switches that are fully programmable2.

What it does and how it is programmed

The U6 Trio is not an effect and not a controller in its own right. JET Pedals is direct about this: "Not a standalone switcher. Only works with Unity6."1 It works exclusively with the Unity6 controller and loop switcher and is part of the JET Live Performance system1. Programming happens on the Unity6 side, which JET Pedals describes as having a touchscreen UI for programming3.

Because each switch has both a short press and a long press function, the three footswitches cover six assignments. JET Pedals gives two worked examples of how players might set them up12:

  • Global programming example: short press A/B/C toggles Loops 1/2/3 on and off; long press A banks down, long press B toggles a boost, long press C banks up1
  • Per bank override example: short press A fires Preset 2, short press B fires Preset 5, short press C fires Preset 1, while the long presses stay as the global bank down, boost and bank up1

JET Pedals describes the enclosure as a durable, tour-ready build1.

Power and connection

The U6 Trio needs no power supply of its own. JET Pedals lists it as "No power needed"1 and, on the bundle page, as "Power: none required (powered by Unity6)"2. It connects to the Unity6 through a TRS connection3, which carries both the connection and the power. For a player, that means one cable to the Unity6 and nothing else to mount under the board.

The Unity6 bundle and color options

JET Pedals has sold the Unity6 together with the U6 Trio as a bundle, described as "Unity6 (Brain) + Trio (3 Extra Switches) - Free Trio Included"3. The bundle lists the U6 Trio in Black or White, with the Unity6 also offered in those colors3.

The U6 Trio only works with the Unity6. If you use another MIDI controller or loop switcher, this expander is not compatible with it1.

Questions

Does the JET U6 Trio work with other MIDI controllers?

No. JET Pedals states the U6 Trio works exclusively with the Unity6 controller and loop switcher, and the product page is explicit that it is not a standalone switcher. It is part of the JET Live Performance system and is meant to be used only alongside the Unity6.

Does the U6 Trio need power?

No separate power is needed. JET Pedals lists the U6 Trio as requiring no power of its own, because it is powered by the Unity6 it is connected to. That means no wall adapter, no battery and no extra cables on your board beyond the connection to the Unity6.

How does the U6 Trio connect to the Unity6?

The U6 Trio connects to the Unity6 through a TRS connection. Once connected, its three switches are programmed from the Unity6 itself, which JET Pedals describes as having a touchscreen UI for programming.

How big is the JET U6 Trio?

JET Pedals lists the U6 Trio at 174mm wide (6.85 inches), 50mm deep (1.95 inches) and 50mm tall (1.95 inches), so it sits low on a pedalboard and takes up little more room than a standard single-width pedal.
