The KHDK Electronics Ascendency is a limited-edition overdrive pedal developed with Trivium guitarists Matt Heafy and Corey Beaulieu. According to the announcement, "The Ascendency recreates both Heafy and Beaulieu's overdrive/dirt tones," making it a signature take on the band's drive sound rather than a general-purpose overdrive1. For more on the effect type itself, see Overdrive Pedals.
Controls and build
The Ascendency keeps its control layout simple, with three knobs:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Drive | Sets the amount of overdrive |
| Volume | Sets the output level |
| Tone | Shapes the treble response |
Each pedal was designed by engineer Antonin Salva, hand-built, and then individually tested at KHDK's EU workshop1.
Limited edition artwork
Only 333 Ascendency overdrive pedals were made. Each one carries cyber punk-style, Japanese mask-inspired artwork by Dan Kurz1.
With a run of 333 units, the Ascendency is a limited edition. It went on sale on 4 June 2021 at 12pm EST at an RRP of USD 2491.
