The El Valiente is a signature overdrive pedal designed for Chris Rocha and released in collaboration with Little Endian Engineering. It was built to recreate Rocha's own tone, which Delicious Audio describes as warm, clean and with a touch of saturation, both live and in the studio1. For players looking at other overdrive pedals, it sits in the low-to-medium gain territory that signature drives often occupy.
What it does
The pedal carries two modes, green and red. Delicious Audio describes the range as "From a transparent sound on your rhythm guitars, to a heavy sound for your leads", so the green mode covers cleaner rhythm work while the red mode pushes into heavier lead territory1. The stated goal of the design is "Recreating his signature warm, clean and slightly saturated tone"1.
Who Chris Rocha is
Rocha is a producer and guitarist whose tone "stands out for being warm, clean and with a touch of saturation" in his productions1. Delicious Audio's profile adds that "Chris is a two time Dove award winner, multi nominated Grammy producer, and a Gretsch Guitar artist."2 The El Valiente, in his own words via Delicious Audio, "represents the foundation of his sound, both live and in the studio"1.
