Mad Pedals Fort Knox Solid Gold Standard Overdrive

The Fort Knox Solid Gold Standard is an overdrive pedal made by Mad Pedals. Overdrive pedals push an amp-like breakup into the signal, from a light edge of grit to a fuller saturated drive, and this one sits in that family alongside other Mad Pedals gain units such as the Mad Pedals Psyger Drive and the Mad Pedals Panda Drive¹.

What it does

One pairing came up repeatedly in the review. Customers at the shop where the review was written had started using the Fort Knox Solid Gold Standard with the JHS Morning Glory, a popular overdrive in its own right, running the two together¹. Stacking a grittier overdrive into a lower-gain one, or the other way round, is a common way to build a two-stage drive setup on a board, and this combination was evidently working for players at the time.

For a wider view of where this pedal sits, see the site's pages on overdrive pedals and on distortion pedals, which cover the difference between the two gain types.
