The Mid-Fi Electronics Full Frequency Overdrive is an overdrive pedal from Mid-Fi Electronics, a maker of compact effects. Mid-Fi describes it as an "uncompressed" "transparent" overdrive, a design aimed at adding drive without squeezing the dynamics out of the signal1. It sits in the same family of gain pedals as the units covered on the Overdrive Pedals and Distortion Pedals pages, and it is voiced to work alongside pedals rather than replace them.
What it does
Mid-Fi's own framing of the design makes the intent clear:
"Never thought I'd have to design an 'uncompressed' 'transparent' overdrive."
The pedal has an Output control, which sets the level going out of the pedal1. Mid-Fi says it works "Great anywhere in your effects chain, and won't gobble up all the level of that super loud fuzz pedal you placed before" it1. In practice, that makes it a candidate for players running a fuzz or boost ahead of their drive, where some overdrives can flatten the level and character of what feeds them.
Power and bypass
The pedal runs on 9V DC with a negative tip, the standard center-negative supply used by most pedalboard power supplies1. It uses True Bypass, so the pedal is removed from the signal path entirely when switched off1.
