The Mosky FLAME CHORUS is a chorus pedal from moskyaudio, a maker of hand-built effect pedals. It is a compact unit aimed at players who want chorus and a wider sound in a small footprint, and it sits alongside other Mosky chorus designs such as the Moskyaudio Blue Ocean Chorus and the moskyaudio Mosky CH-VIBE.1
What it does
The pedal's front panel is built around a 4-MODE SELECTION KNOB, which the maker lists as the pedal's main feature, together with a SPEED control. According to moskyaudio, "SPEED controls the rate of the chorus," so that knob sets how fast the chorus modulation moves.1
The pedal also carries a SPREAD control, which moskyaudio describes as a way of widening a mono signal2:
"SPREAD CONTROL: This unique feature allows you to create a pseudo stereo imaging, by delaying certain frequencies (like a phaser effect). It will make your sound bigger and 3 dimensional, even if you are using a mono configuration."2
In practice, that means the spread function works even on a single-amp, mono setup: rather than needing two amps or a stereo rig, the pedal delays certain frequencies to suggest width, in a way the maker compares to a phaser. For a player running one amp, it is a way of getting a bigger sound from a mono board. If you are new to the effect, the Chorus Pedals type page explains how chorus works more generally2.
Power and practical details
The FLAME CHORUS runs on 9V DC power with the center negative, the standard polarity for most pedalboard power supplies. It is true bypass, so when it is off, your signal passes through without the chorus circuit in the way. The pedal weighs 300g, and its packing size is 147 (W) x 78 (D) x 7 (H) mm.1
