The Mr. Black GilaMondo is a larger phaser pedal, and it is also the design the company's compact Mini Phaser is based on: Guitar World described the Mini Phaser as "a design based on the company's larger GilaMondo"1. If you have read about the Mini Phaser, the GilaMondo is the full-size pedal behind it.
Finishes and versions
The GilaMondo has been offered in two finishes:
- Throwback Special, the standard version, in a "THROWBACK SPECIAL" finish2
- Electric Lizard, a Special Edition finish, covered on its own page, the Mr. Black GilaMondo Electric Lizard3
What it does
Mr. Black says the GilaMondo Throwback Special is "Great on electric guitar, bass and keys alike!", so it is pitched as a phaser that works across instruments rather than one tuned only for guitar2. For players weighing it against the company's other phasers, Mr. Black has since built out the range with the Mr. Black Twin-Lazers, a true stereo dual phaser, and the Mr. Black Black LTD. Phaser Vibe. For a wider look at the type, see Phaser Pedals.
