Nunomo Artificial Reflection

DelayHybrid

The Artificial Reflection is a digital delay pedal from Nunomo, first shown to the public at the NAMM 2018 Stompbox Booth. It sits in the delay family, but it is not a straightforward echo box: the maker describes it as a digital time shifting and analog feedback effect built around a unique resonance circuit1.

The design splits the work between two domains. The digital side of it deals with time shifting management, while the Feedback and Mix circuits are 100% analog1. That hybrid approach is what shapes the pedal's character: rather than the clean, repeating delays of a conventional digital delay, Nunomo's pedal leans on analog feedback behavior for its texture.

What it does

In practice, the pedal can produce sounds that go beyond simple repeats. As Delicious Audio's Paolo De Gregorio put it when the pedal was shown at NAMM: "It can sound like added tremolo or a slowing feedback speed"1. Players familiar with tremolo pedals will recognize that the Artificial Reflection can imitate some of that amplitude-wobble character, while also offering the effect of a delay whose feedback seems to slow down over time.

The pedal's controls include two footswitches, and the left footswitch adds extra feedback when triggered1. That gives a player a way to push the repeats into self-oscillation or denser buildup on the fly, in the moment, without bending down to turn a knob.

The Artificial Reflection was presented as a new pedal at the NAMM 2018 Stompbox Booth1. Nunomo describes it as a digital time shifting and analog feedback effect, with the digital side handling time shifting while the Feedback and Mix circuits are 100% analog1.
