The Stone Bramble Overdrive is an overdrive pedal from One Control, a Japanese company that makes a range of pedal ancillary items including switching units and power supplies1. It is one of the "flavors" descended from the original Strawberry Red Overdrive, and One Control describes it as taking that circuit and adding "a little bit more sparkle and shimmer"2.
Availability
One Control lists the Stone Bramble Overdrive as sold out2. The company has said that, until now, the pedal was a limited edition found only in Japan, and that it is being released to the wider market2.
What it does
The Stone Bramble sits in the Strawberry Red family of overdrives, alongside pedals like the Strawberry Red Overdrive RC and the Strawberry Red Overdrive DLX. Its headline feature is a switchable mid-boost function that One Control says can accentuate the upper mids "in just the right way." Switch the mid-boost off and the pedal gives a more cutting and "edgy" overdrive tone2.
For a player, that means two voicings from one pedal: a mid-forward setting that pushes an amp or solo up in a mix, and a flatter, edgier setting when the mids are already covered2.
Where it came from
One Control describes the Stone Bramble as another flavor descended from the original and successful Strawberry Red Overdrive2. The company's founder Björn has said this particular overdrive is his personal favorite from the Strawberry Red Overdrive family, and the most versatile of them2.
