The Destination Motorvation is a distortion pedal from Option 5. According to the company, it is designed to deliver a grinding, motor-like churning distortion sound, one that is useful for far more than just recreating the tones that inspired it1.
The pedal grew out of a love for classic recorded sounds heard on songs like "Are You Gonna Go My Way?", "Born To Be Wild" and "China Grove"1. The design itself is older than the pedal's release: Option 5 says Jay designed this one back in 19971.
Controls and use
The pedal is compact and keeps things simple, with three controls1:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Gain | Sets the amount of distortion |
| Level | Sets the output volume |
| Tone | Shapes the treble response |
Option 5 describes the Motorvation as great for your own inspiring tones, and says it works well with both single coils and humbuckers1.
