The BYOSwitch Ladder is an interface from Pedalnetics that lets players use their own footswitches with the Resistor Ladder switching found on Morningstar MIDI controllers, rather than buying a pre-made aux switch. Pedalnetics announced it on January 2, 2026: "We've made it possible with our new BYOSwitch Ladder interface!"1 It sits in the wider field of switching and MIDI controllers as a bring-your-own-switch accessory.
What it does
The interface converts the signal from ordinary footswitches into the Resistor Ladder format Morningstar controllers read. Each jack accepts up to 2 footswitches capable of Momentary Normally Open operation: "Simply plug up to 2 footswitches capable of Momentary Normally Open operation into each jack," according to Pedalnetics1.
Because it works with Morningstar's Resistor Ladder switching, a single Omniport 1 connection can carry up to 8 or 16 switches, depending on the Morningstar device being used1. On the larger controllers, the count goes further: "if you have the MC8Pro or MC6Pro you can even chain 2 of these together to get to your total of 16 switches," Pedalnetics says1.
In practice, that means a player who already owns momentary normally open switches can wire up an extended bank of preset or loop controls on an MC8Pro or MC6Pro without buying a dedicated multi-button controller1.
The switches must be momentary normally open type. A latching switch or a normally closed design will not work with this interface as described by the maker1.
