The Pigtronix PXE2U Echolution 2 Ultra Pro is a multi-tap stereo modulation delay, announced in November 2015 as the top tier of the Echolution 2 range alongside the Echolution 2 Filter Pro. Guitar Interactive Magazine's Jonathan Graham described it as "a massively flexible multi-tap stereo modulation delay"1.
What it does
A multi-tap delay produces several repeats from one input signal, and the Echolution 2 Ultra Pro builds on that with modulation and pitch options layered on top of the delay line. Pigtronix gave it what Graham summarized as "a wide array of customisable filter, LFO and pitch-shifting options, along with expression pedal and envelope c"ontrol of its knobs, and complete MIDI control of every function1.
For a player, that means the delay's tone, movement and pitch behavior can be shaped in detail, and its knobs can be swept remotely: by an expression pedal, by the strength of your playing signal via the envelope input, or from a MIDI controller. If you want to hand footswitch duties to a separate controller, Pigtronix also made the Echolution 2 Remote for the range1.
The price Pigtronix's press coverage gave for this pedal is a UK figure: £499 GBP RRP at announcement in November 20151. No US dollar list price is given here.
Where it sits in the range
The Ultra Pro was announced at the same time as the Filter Pro version, with the Ultra Pro as the fuller-featured of the two1. The wider Echolution family also includes the original Echolution, the Echolution Tap Tempo Analog Delay and the Echolution 2 Deluxe.
