The ProTone Haunted Delay is a delay pedal made by Pro Tone Pedals, built as the signature pedal of Mark Holcomb, guitarist with Periphery. Guitar World posted a video in September 2014 of Holcomb demoing it1. Pro Tone Pedals launched the pedal in August 2014 as the Mark Holcomb Limited Edition Signature Delay2.
What it does
Pro Tone Pedals describes the Haunted Delay as an ambient-style delay like a vintage tape echo, with what the company calls gig-ready durability, and it was intentionally designed to work well with modern high-gain amps as well as classics2. That high-gain focus fits its association with Holcomb, whose band plays heavy, progressive material1.
The pedal has three controls:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Delay | Sweeps delay times from 25 milliseconds to 450 milliseconds2 |
| Repeat | Runs from a single regeneration to infinite feedback2 |
| Mix | Sets the level of delayed signal mixed with the straight guitar tone2 |
At the longer Delay settings, the pedal introduces what Pro Tone Pedals calls slight note crunching, similar to the vintage tape delay systems of past decades2.
Mark Holcomb signature
The pedal carries Holcomb's name as a limited edition signature model, and he demonstrates it himself in the Guitar World video from September 201412.
