The Dwarf Bleep Bass is a mini fuzz pedal for bass from UK maker Rainger FX, announced in August 2017. Premier Guitar reported it as "an extreme version of their hugely popular Dwarf Bass mini-pedal," built in Rainger FX's custom mini-pedal enclosure with no side sockets1. It sits in the fuzz territory covered on the Fuzz Pedals page, aimed squarely at bass players.

What it does

Rainger FX describes the Dwarf Bleep Bass as having "all of the full-on fuzz ferocity of the Dr Freakenstein Fuzz, but with a low frequency enhancement for a bass," so the low end is shaped for bass guitar rather than guitar1. On top of that fuzz, the circuit takes what the company calls "the best of the bleep 8-bit sounding glitch weirdness first seen in the Dwarf Bleep pedal for guitarists," bringing that glitch character across to bass1.

The pedal's signature feature is Igor, a double sided pressure sensitive expression pad. Pressing it controls pitch in real time, and as a note decays, the final decay can be degraded into rhythmical bleeps, with the speed of that decay adjusted by a trimpot accessed through the baseplate1. That puts it closer in spirit to the glitchy end of Synth Pedals than to a straightforward Overdrive Pedals or Distortion Pedals design.
