The Red Witch Falcor Modulator is a limited-run modulation and chorus pedal from Red Witch, announced in December 2023. Only 60 units exist, each with unique artwork and a slightly different take on the same analog circuit. It was priced at $499 and was available direct from Red Witch Pedals as of the announcement1.
What it does
The Falcor Modulator sits in the chorus family: an analog modulation pedal built around a NOS MN3007 bucket brigade chip, the chip type behind many classic analog chorus designs1.
Its front panel carries a footswitch and an LED, with four knobs mounted on the top of the pedal. The Velocity control adjusts the rate of the effect, and the LED pulses in time with the modulation, so you can see the speed as well as hear it1.
A different pedal in every box
What sets the Falcor apart from most chorus pedals is that no two are identical. Each of the 60 units has its own artwork, and each circuit is dialled in with its own internal modulation delay time. As MusicRadar's Jonathan Horsley reported, how Red Witch's Fulton rigged them up "will make each feel and sound a little different"1.
Because each pedal's internal modulation delay time is set individually, two Falcor Modulators bought from the same run will not sound exactly alike. The 60 units are also a fixed limit, so the pedal is a limited edition by design rather than an ongoing product line.
Where it sits in the Red Witch range
Red Witch has built a number of modulation pedals around its analog designs, including the Red Witch Binary Star, the Red Witch Medusa Chorus Tremolo, the Red Witch Empress and the Red Witch Chorus Em. The Falcor Modulator is the limited-edition, one-of-a-kind entry in that family, distinguished by its unique artwork per unit and its individually dialled-in circuits1.
