ClippingSelectable hard or soft clipping per channel2

The Summer School Electronics Double Major is a dual-channel Klone overdrive: two Klon-style circuits in one gold sparkle box, each with its own footswitch and its own hard or soft clipping selection. Released in August 2026, it is the maker's latest creation, and it covers a wide range, from a slight boost to what Pedal of the Day calls "a massive wall of distortion, and anything/everything in between"1.

What it does and how it is controlled

Each channel carries the same set of controls, so the two sides work identically and can be set independently2:

ControlWhat it does
GainSets the amount of drive on the channel
VolumeSets the channel's output level
ToneShapes the channel's treble
ClippingSelects hard or soft clipping

The clipping toggle is the distinguishing control. Guitar Pedal X notes "open textures and more harmonic potential" for the soft-clipping modes, so switching between the two changes the character of the drive, not just its intensity2. Because the channels are independent and stackable, a player can use one side as a light transparent boost and the other as the main drive, or stack both for more gain21.

"It features a double circuit that allows you to use them individually or stacked"
Pedal of the Day, Mark Turley review1

Where it sits among dual-channel Klone pedals

Guitar Pedal X describes the Double Major as "Essentially a Double Klone pedal - with independent stackable channels"2. That puts it alongside the Cornerstone Centurio Dual Channel Klone, but the two take different approaches: the Centurio's channels are A/B, the core circuit plus a sort of Hot Boost, while the Double Major gives you two full Klone channels with the same controls on each2.

The Double Major is also a later step for the maker. Pedal of the Day has covered Summer School Electronics since the first pedal arrived in 2022, including The Bootster Booster and the Gus-Drive1.

"For sure a pretty cool addition to the Klon landscape."
Guitar Pedal X, Stefan Karlsson2

Design and availability

The pedal comes in a gold hued sparkle enclosure with graphics, which Guitar Pedal X describes as "gorgeous" and "finished off nicely with some really cool graphics"2. It is sold through the Summer School Electronics webstore, listed at $300 and equivalent as of August 20262. For more on the wider category, see Overdrive Pedals and Boost Pedals.

Questions

Can the two channels of the Summer School Electronics Double Major be stacked?

Yes. Guitar Pedal X describes the Double Major as having two independent, stackable channels, and Pedal of the Day notes it features a double circuit that lets you use the channels individually or stacked. That means you can run one channel alone for a lighter drive, or engage both together for a bigger, more compressed wall of gain.

What clipping options does the Double Major have?

Each channel offers selectable hard or soft clipping, chosen per channel. Guitar Pedal X notes open textures and more harmonic potential for the soft-clipping modes, so the toggle changes the character of the drive rather than just its amount. Both channels carry the same Gain, Volume, Tone and clipping controls.

Is the Double Major based on the Klon Centaur?

It is a Klone, meaning a pedal built on the Klon circuit design. Guitar Pedal X calls it essentially a double Klone pedal with independent stackable channels, and Pedal of the Day describes it as a dual transparent overdrive and boost inspired by the Klon. It is not a Klon Centaur itself, but a two-channel take on that circuit.

How is the Double Major different from the Cornerstone Centurio?

Guitar Pedal X points out that the Cornerstone Centurio Dual Channel Klone uses A/B channels: the core Klon-style circuit plus a sort of Hot Boost. The Double Major instead gives you two full, independent Klone channels, each with its own Gain, Volume, Tone and hard or soft clipping selection, which can be stacked.

How much does the Summer School Electronics Double Major cost?

Guitar Pedal X lists the Double Major at $300 and equivalent as of August 2026, sold through the Summer School Electronics webstore.
