The TWA Triskelion TK-01 Harmonic Energizer is a distortion/overdrive pedal with a filter EQ built in. In Guitar World's review video, Paul Riario described it as combining "a distortion/overdrive circuit qith a unique filter EQ to produce a wide variety of awesome guitar tones"1. The idea is that the filter section shapes the harmonics the distortion generates, so the pedal covers a wider range of drive tones than a single-purpose distortion pedal.
What it does
The TK-01 pairs two functions in one box: a distortion/overdrive circuit and a filter EQ. The distortion stage provides the drive and saturation, while the filter section lets the player shape which frequencies get emphasized, which is where the "Harmonic Energizer" name comes from1.
"combines a distortion/overdrive circuit qith a unique filter EQ"
Because the filter works alongside the drive rather than after it as a separate equalization pedal would, the two controls interact: the same drive setting can land in noticeably different places tonally depending on how the filter is set. That is the pedal's main selling point over a conventional overdrive, and it puts the TK-01 alongside TWA's other drive designs, such as the TWA SH9 Scott Henderson Signature Distortion and the TWA Octoverdrive Thick Overdrive + Octavia.
