The Saint Rock Distortion Pedal is a distortion pedal from UK maker Vein-Tap.com, placed by the maker in its overdrive and distortion category alongside other distortion pedals. It is designed to invoke the sound of an original Marshall Silver Jubilee, which Vein-Tap.com calls one of the most famous rock amps of all1.
What it is based on
Vein-Tap.com describes the Silver Jubilee as "Essentially a JCM800 modified to offer darker, hotter tone, this is the amp Slash used playing live from the original Appetite" era1. The Saint Rock is the maker's take on that voice in pedal form, sitting in the same territory as other overdrive pedals aimed at classic rock tones.
The controls: Distortion, Volume and Tone
The Saint Rock keeps things simple with three controls1:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Distortion | Sets the amount of distortion, from a "classy, slightly-dirty flavour" at 0 up to full rock distortion1 |
| Volume | Sets the output level, with enough volume on tap that the midway point is rarely exceeded1 |
| Tone | Chooses how dark or bright the overall tone is1 |
On the Distortion control, the maker says that with it at 0, the pedal offers a flavor you could play on any blues gig, while turning it up takes the pedal into full rock distortion1. The Volume control, in the maker's words, "can kick out a fantastic amount of volume. It's unlikely you'll ever get above the midway point"1.
Warranty
