The Vox VE-SI Smooth Impact is a compressor pedal in Vox's Valvenergy line. It offers three modes, giving players a choice of compression characters from a single pedal. It sits in the compressor lane alongside Vox's other compressor designs, such as the Vox Snake Charmer Compressor and the earlier Vox Smooth Impact and Vox Valvenergy Smooth Impact.1
What it does
The Smooth Impact is a compressor built around Vox's Nutube preamp technology, the same small tube-based design used across the Valvenergy range. Its controls are laid out as follows1:
| Control | Function |
|---|---|
| Output | Sets the pedal's output level |
| Mode | Switches between VTG, Nat and Sat voicings |
| Tube Gain | Adjusts the Nutube gain stage |
| Compression | Sets the amount of compression |
The Mode control offers three voicings, labeled VTG, Nat and Sat, giving the player three compression characters to choose from rather than a single fixed tone.1
Background
Vox's Valvenergy line includes the VE-SI Smooth Impact, a compressor that carries three modes. The three-mode design is the pedal's defining control feature, letting players switch between different compression settings without leaving the Valvenergy format.1
The VE-SI Smooth Impact was announced with a list price of £TBC GBP, meaning pricing had not been confirmed at the time of the announcement.1
