Gear and endorsements
James's main gear collaboration is with STL Tones. He worked with the company on the Revenant, a signature hardware preamp pedal and STL Tones' first ever hardware product1. Guitar.com describes the Revenant preamp pedal as "created in conjunction with shred guitar colossus Andy James"2, and Gearnews reports it "comes in the format of a signature preamp style pedal for Mr James"3. Alongside the pedal, James collaborated with STL Tones on the Tonality: Andy James plugin suite4.
On the Revenant, James says:
"It's so responsive, even when you turn the guitar down, just the sort of thing you would expect a valve amp to do. It's got that perfect tone, super crisp and smooth with the picking, even on single notes."
The Revenant is a preamp pedal, a format players use to shape their core tone into an amp or a recording setup.
