Gear
Shanks' longest-standing pedal is the Nobels ODR-1, which he also uses in its smaller ODR-mini version. Nobels quotes him:
"For 15 years the ODR-1 has been my go to overdrive of choice used on countless record and songs I've written and produced. It's always on a board I use period. Now to have in a smaller version really helps when I'm working in and grab go situation without sacrificing the tone I know and love."
He says the ODR-mini suits grab-and-go situations without giving up the tone he knows1. In 1996 Rocktron added him to its list of endorsers, alongside Chris Hicks of Reba McEntire's band, when he was with Melissa Etheridge3. At NAMM 2020 he visited the Origin Effects booth to try the company's new pedals2.
