BOSS CE-300 Super Chorus

Chorus

The Boss CE-300 Super Chorus is a rackmount chorus unit, built to sit in a studio rack rather than on a pedalboard. It carries the Super Chorus name that Boss has also used on its CH-1 Stereo Super Chorus pedal, and it applies the chorus effect, the shimmering doubled-and-detuned sound covered on the site's Chorus Pedals page, in a rack format.

What it does

The CE-300 takes an incoming signal and adds the chorus effect to it, in the same broad family of chorus gear as Boss's pedal chorus units such as the CE-5 Stereo Chorus Ensemble and the CE-2W Waza Craft. Its rack form means it is typically patched into a studio setup or an effects loop rather than switched by foot.

It is documented in use as a vocal processor as much as a guitar tool. Charlie Jones, the bassist known for his work with The Cult and Siouxsie Sioux, keeps one in his studio and records vocals through it. In an interview published by Boss, he said:

"The BOSS CE-300 is a great bit of kit. I love using it to record vocals."
Charlie Jones, in a Boss interview with Rod Brakes1

He described it there as "an amazing rackmount unit, the [CE-300] Super Chorus"1.
