Lexicon ALEX

Multi-effectsDiscontinued

The Lexicon ALEX is a digital effects processor made by Lexicon Pro, a company whose name is closely tied to studio reverb and effects processing. Lexicon's own product page now marks the ALEX as discontinued, so it is no longer in production and is found today only secondhand1.

What it does

The ALEX is a rack-style digital effects processor: a unit that applies effects such as reverb and modulation to a signal rather than sitting on a pedalboard as a single-effect stompbox. Lexicon lists it simply as a "Digital Effects Processor" on its product page1. It belongs to the same family of Lexicon processors covered on this site, which runs from the Lexicon PCM70 and Lexicon LXP-15 to later units like the Lexicon MPX 1 and Lexicon PCM81.

Price when reviewed

The Lexicon Alex carried a list price of £389 GBP2. That figure is given here in the currency the source states; it is not a US dollar price and not a current price.

The ALEX is discontinued1. Any unit on the used market will be secondhand, and figures like the 1997 list price reflect what it sold for new at the time, not what it sells for today.
