The Vintage Revolution PedalPro is a hybrid analog multi-effects system: a rackmount processor whose effects chain is pure analog, with digital circuitry handling the control side. Vintage Revolution announced it as "the world's first hybrid analogue multi-effect", and the system pairs the rack unit with the Pedalino foot controller. MusicRadar's reviewer Trevor Curwen described it as offering "pure analogue sounds with digital control"1.
What it does
The PedalPro Multi-effect contains 14 pure analog effects2:
- Solid state compressor/limiter
- JFET distortion
- Stereo optical noise gate
- Fasel-based optical wah
- Vowel generators
- Envelope filters
- Optical phaser
- Tremolo panner
- Boost
- BBD chorus-flanger-delay
- Stereo volume pedal
The effects cover ground that players would otherwise fill with separate units, from compression and gating to wah, phasing, tremolo and a BBD-based chorus-flanger-delay. For comparison, the individual effect types are covered elsewhere on the site: compressor, distortion, noise gate, wah, filter, phaser, tremolo, boost, chorus, flanger, delay and volume2.
The Pedalino Foot Controller
The system's foot controller adds practical stage features alongside its switching duties2:
- Extra-large, visible display
- A mute button for changing guitars in total silence
- Tuning with all-new precision and ease
- Customizable force level required to activate the footpads
The system also offers the option to integrate and control external effects using pre and post loops, so pedals outside the rack can sit before or after the PedalPro's analog chain and be controlled from the same floorboard2.
What reviewers said
MusicRadar's review was positive on sound. Trevor Curwen noted that "only the best high-end audio components are used in the effects chain, and that appears to be borne out by the sound qua"1, crediting the unit's excellent sound quality to the high-end audio components in its effects chain.
Availability
As of the June 2012 announcement, the PedalPro System was available to purchase on the Vintage Revolution website, with shipping to any location in Europe2.
